Privacy Policy

Rink Reels is a video breakdown tool for hockey coaches. This policy explains what happens to your data. The short version: your video and your notes stay on your device, and we do not run analytics or advertising of any kind.
The short version
- Your game video never leaves your device. We do not upload it, copy it, or
transmit it anywhere.
- Your tags, drawings, walkthroughs and rosters are stored locally on the
device you made them on.
- There is no third-party analytics or advertising in this app. No tracking
SDK, no ad network, no profiling.
- The only information that leaves your device is what is needed to process a
purchase, and only if you make one.
What stays on your device
All of the following is stored in your device's local app storage and is not sent to us or anyone else:
- Game video. Rink Reels reads the file you choose and plays it. It is never
copied off the device.
- Tags, moments and stoppages you create.
- Telestrations — the arrows, rings and boxes you draw.
- Walkthrough recordings, including your voice and camera, when you record
one.
- Rosters — player names and numbers you enter (see Players and minors
below).
- Whistle detection. The audio model runs entirely on your device. Your game
audio is never uploaded for analysis.
- In-app usage counters. We record when a paywall was shown and whether a
purchase was started, so we can tell which features people want. These counts are kept in local storage on your device and are never transmitted. There is no analytics service behind them.
If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it. We have no copy.
Permissions we ask for, and why

You can decline any of these. Declining the camera or microphone means you cannot record a walkthrough with them; nothing else is affected.
Purchases
If you buy a subscription, the purchase itself is handled by Apple. We never see or receive your payment details, card number, or billing address.
We use RevenueCat to tell the app whether a purchase is active. RevenueCat receives a randomly generated, anonymous identifier for your installation, plus information about the purchase and basic device information such as your platform and app version. It is not linked to your name or email, because we do not ask you for either. RevenueCat acts as our service provider for this purpose. Their privacy policy is at revenuecat.com/privacy.
If you never make a purchase, no purchase data is created or transmitted.
Players and minors
Rink Reels is a tool for coaches, and the rosters you enter will often contain the names and jersey numbers of young players.
That information stays on your device. We never receive it, and it is not used for any purpose other than labelling your own clips.
Rink Reels is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. Because coaches enter player details, please follow your league's or association's own rules about recording and identifying young players, and about who you share clips with.
What we do not do
- We do not use third-party analytics, attribution, or crash-reporting services.
- We do not show advertising, and we do not sell, rent, or share your data with
advertisers.
- We do not build a profile of you, and we do not track you across other apps or
websites.
- We do not require an account to use the app.
Coming changes
We are building optional features that will let you create an account and share a clip with your team by link. When those ship, this policy will be updated before they are switched on, and it will say plainly:
- what an account stores (an email address),
- that a clip you choose to share is uploaded to our storage so the people you
send the link to can watch it,
- how long shared clips are kept, and how to delete them and your account.
None of that happens today. Nothing is uploaded unless you explicitly choose to share it, and you will be told before it is.
Your rights and your data
Because your data is on your device, you are in direct control of it:
- To export it, use Settings → Download a backup. Note this exports your
tags, notes, ratings and game info as a JSON file. It does not include your drawings or your walkthrough recordings — those live only on the device they were made on.
- To delete it, delete the app, or use the reset options in Settings.
If you are in the UK, EU, or a jurisdiction with similar law, you have rights to access, correct, and delete personal data we hold about you. In practice we hold almost none — but if you have made a purchase and want the associated anonymous identifier removed, contact us and we will action it.
